The solution was to come up with a product that I would use as well as others benefitting from the product.
I decided to focus on carrying surfboards. Sometimes, it can be a hassle to maneuver your surfboard out of the water to your car or bike, depending on what you are carrying. I decided to design and construct a multipurpose bag that I could sell and, in turn, donate one percent of the sales to One Percent to the Planet.
Each year, I go camping with my students for a week at the beach. I noticed that when they carried their long boards a great distance down the beach, they would end up dragging the boards.
The surfboard net bag, that I created, has a reinforced front and rear that gives the bag extra strength along with two banded straps in the middle of the bag.
The surfboard net bag allows one or two surfers to easily carry their boards and other gear to the beach. Two surfers can easily work in partnership to carry two boards with ease. The mesh design allows airflow through the material to dry your board. Also, the multi point “triangle” rings and straps allow for you to hang your board when you get home. The mesh design allows you to ball up your bag to be easily hidden in the rocks while you surf or to be stored at home when not in use.
My company is called, “Newf Surfboard Net”. It is named after my long time companion, Claude, a Newfoundland dog, whom I had during my college years. Being a Newfoundland, he had a love for the ocean or any body of water, even puddles! This mighty breed from Canada, has a history of saving lives and dedicated companionship to their owners. These bags and their sales are dedicated to my dog and helping environmental causes like One Percent to the Planet.
