Our Newf Surf Ambassador Peggy Oki former only female team member of the "Dog Town & Z boys skate board team of the 70s attended the Patagonia surfboard swap Saturday. Peggy had her Origami Whale Project booth. Peggy is focused on protecting the endangered Maui Dolphins estimated about 50 left. Today while working my Par Ranger job we had a baby seal rescue. It should recover and be transported to the Channel Islands. Never been so close to to such a tiny seal. I delivered the first Newf Surfboard Net bag made for retail to Yvon Chouinard for his "Let my People go Surfing" program at Patagonia. I also delivered to Yvon a 1959 Arizona Highway Magazine on fishing. Great reading to compare the water levels, fish populations and water quality of these streams of today. Are they even flowing? Great day to SUP in the Santa Barbara Harbor. Unexpectedly two dolphins jumped up right in front of my board. It looked like it was in slow motion. Never seen them in the harbor so close to the shops. I was able to try a 12' race board, loved it. A large fire occurred in the Santa Barbara mountains called the "White Fire" which I could see from the harbor. 750 acres burned so far and Hwy 154 was closed. Beautiful day. I launched my SUP out of the Santa Barbara harbor. Beautiful view of the mountains, little wind and many juvenile pup seals resting in the sun. A great way to end the day.
