Two events that will be supporting in 2016. Maui, “Paddle Imua, The Maliko Run”. It is hard to believe it that is will be the 5th year for Paddle Imua. Plan now this year it will be May 7, 2016, “A benefit Race For Children With Special Needs.” Generously again sponsored by Bluesmiths Crafted Waterwear for the 5th year. About Paddle Imua: “A benefit for Camp Imua. Paddle Imua’s vision is to transform Camp Imua’s 38 historic years here on Maui and create a physical embodiment of the Hawaiian word Imua (‘to move forward’). Imua comes from the water and paddling, so “Paddle Imua” is meant to help move Camp Imua forward for many years to come.”
“One of the unique aspects of this water competition on Maui is that the competitors will also be given the opportunity to mix and mingle with the special needs children of Camp Imua at the finish of the race and give the kids some water sports exposure and inspiration to live out their dreams.” Local “SUPerstar, Mother and Paramedic, Andrea Moller is a force to reckon with.” this year. The “race is open to paddle disciplines in: stand-up paddleboard (SUP), OC1, OC2, prone paddleboard, and surf ski. The race is just about 9 miles. The actual finish line is on the beach directly fronting Hawaiian Canoe Club. Contestants will jump off their board or canoe and run through the shoot to complete the race.
It is also hard to believe that this will be Newf Surf’s (www.newfsurfboard.wpengine.com) 4th year donating SUP/Race bags and gear, Patagonia items and other special items to send to support this wonderful event. Plan now to head to Maui for this special community event. Cheers
Paddle for Plummer is Saturday July 16th, 2016. “In its third year and growing, Paddle for Plummer is one of New England’s premiere annual Stand Up Paddleboard fundraising events, drawing international elite racers as well as fun paddlers and hundreds of fitness enthusiasts and friends of the Plummer Home.” A “Stand Up Paddle boarding for all levels, SUP yoga, spinning and more. It will be located at “Plummer Home’s waterfront property and beach, 37 Winter Island Rd, Salem, MA 01970”
“AUDIENCE: Hundreds of highly active consumers of fitness, SUP, yoga and watersport products. Although the event
draws male and female elite racers from around the world, the majority of participants are female, ages 30–50, from Boston’s North Shore. Last year “More than 200 people enjoyed music, food, waterfront spinning, SUP yoga, and, of course, paddling. Locally and internationally known sponsors and vendors were there doing demos and supporting Plummer Home. Together, we raised $50,000!” “Plummer Home serves young men and women in the foster care and juvenile justice systems. We make sure they connect (or reconnect) with families who are unconditionally committed to nurturing, protecting and guiding them while teaching them skills and building their community supports.”
Newf Surf (www.newfsurfboard.wpengine.com) will be supporting the event by sending SUP/Race bags accessories, Patagonia Gear and other special items. Plan now only several months away. Cheers.
